Reduce environmental pollution
We are surrounded by the environment. It consists of trees,
waterfalls, forests and mountains. These are natural resources which
means their quality and nature change according to the climate.

It is the environment that protects man. The environment is being
polluted by man. This situation has arisen due to the development of
technology and the population increase.
Water is polluted due to man’s carelessness.
They throw garbage into the water. A few days ago, we saw how a fuel
tanker leaked in the sea polluting it.
Water and air pollution is also caused by man. They pollute the
atmosphere.
When the oxygen we inhale is polluted respiratory diseases can occur.
Patients will die due to lack of oxygen and inhaling oxygen mixed
with poisonous gasses.
If they do not think about the effect of their actions, they will
suffer.
If we want to keep the earth in good condition, we should not damage
the environment, because the environment is a precious gift we have got
from mother nature.

A visit to the zoo

One beautiful sunny morning, I jumped out of my bed excitedly. My
parents had promise that they would take us to the zoo. I woke my
sister.
We had a nice refreshing wash. We then wiped ourselves and put on our
clothes. I helped my sister a lot. We greeted our parents and our mother
fed us rice and vegetables. We got into our black car and my father
drove us to the zoo and it took us one hour.
We bought four tickets. We started off from the aquarium where we saw
the colourful fish. I especially loved the whale exhibit. There were
herbivores. I loved the ostrich. Snakes were exhibited.
We had a small snack and enjoyed an ice-cream. The birds were tall
and short.

The Sinharaja Forest
Sinharaja is a tropical rain forest in Sri Lanka. It is in the
Ratnapura district. It is a well-known forest in the world and is
included in the world heritage list.
It has many species of plants, animals, birds, insects and reptiles.
Huge trees and creepers cover every part of this forest. This forest
provides so many needs of man and other living beings.
Flowers, animals, thousands of butterflies and waterfalls attract
everyone. We can see sambhur, wild pigs, iguana, porcupine and squirrels
in their natural habitats.
Sinharaja is a storehouse of many trees, plants, insects and animals.
Scientists from foreign countries come here to do research.
It is a place that gives joy to our weary lives.
Today the Sinharaja forest faces many problems. People destroy this
storehouse to make their lives better. It is our duty to protect the
Sinharaja forest for the future generation.
