Dharmaraja wins division one school’s rugby tourney

Dharmaraja rugby captain Rochana Hettiaracchi is a happy
mood.

Success smiled on Dharmaraja College for the first time when the
School’s Rugby team won the division one Schools Tournament for the
first time this year and the sports-loving Principal S.M. Keerthiratne
supported by the staff, Old Rajans Rugby Football Association, the Old
Boys and students made it a memorable occasion – that’s July 1.
Sarath Mataraachchi – the former Prefect of Games said that
Dharmaraja started rugby at the school in the early seventies with
Gamini Jayasundera as the first captain and the game caught the interest
of the students. The past principals and the present principal S.M.
Keerthiratne have taken a keen interest in the furtherance of the sport
and the schoolboys have taken a keen interest in the game.
Sarath Mataraarachchi said that sport at Dharmaraja has begun to
flourish with the keen interest taken by the present principal S.M.
Keerthiratne. The present principal made the playground of the school
end also renovated it and a swimming pool too was built.
Principal of Dharmaraja S.M. Keerthiratne warmly welcomes
their ace kicker Thilina Wijesinghe who was responsible in
getting 141 points with his kicks in the rugby football
