EAM briefs CMAG Chair on Commonwealth Summit

External Affairs Minister Prof G.L. Peiris had bilateral discussions with Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni,, on the sidelines of the recent high-level international counter piracy conference in Dubai, attended by Ministers from more than 20 countries. Dr. Moni is the current Chair of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG).

Prof. Peiris briefed his counterpart about the arrangements being made for holding the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo, and the preparations that are under way for the other events including the Business Forum, Youth Forum and People's Forum.

Minister Moni said Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is looking forward to attending the meeting and wished Sri Lanka all success in organising the Summit.

The two Ministers also discussed a range of issues connected with economic co-operation.
