Roof tiles for Samurdhi beneficiaries

Samurdhi beneficiaries in the Kurunegala district will be provided with roof tiles worth Rs. 120 million to modernise their roofs which are cadjan thatched. They will enjoy this grant by the government under the Deyata Kirula-2014 national development program,a senior official of the Samurdhi Development Authority in Kurunegala said.

Each family will receive titles worth Rs. 30,000/-. There are 120 Samurdhi zones in the Kurunegala district and each zone will get a grant of Rs. one million under the proposed program. The deserving householders will be selected at the mobile services programs conducted at village level, the official said when he spoke to the Sunday Observer on their role in assisting low-income families in the Kurunegala district.
