Cyber Security drill, a grand success

TechCERT, a division of the LK Domain Registry in collaboration with Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) conducted a cyber security drill exclusively for Sri Lankan Telcommunication services and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) recently. The event was supported by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Center for Information Technology Enabled Services (CITeS) University of Moratuwa.

The cyber security drill, was of a duration of four hours with the participation of seven major ISPs and Telcos in Sri Lanka. The theme of the Cyber Security Drill 2013 was 'Countering Large Scale Denial of Service Attack'.

During the exercise, the participating teams activated and tested their incident response handling arrangements, in order to mitigate the impact of Denial of

Service (DoS) attacks that involved large scale propagation of malicious software acting to impair critical infrastructure and economic activities. This exercise enhanced the communication protocols, technical capabilities and quality of incident responses for assuring Internet security and safety.
