Milcris eyes local projects
Milcris, the Sri Lankan construction management consultancy company
based in Oman is now eyeing major local projects as the construction
sector in the country is booming with mega infrastructure, hotels and
casino projects in the pipeline.
Milcris, CEO, Millan de Silva said that the company focuses on
private sector projects and negotiations are already under way with
several mega project developers. He said that cost management consultancy
has not been recognised as a separate component in government projects.
“We have much experience in the infrastructure sector and we are
ready to provide our expertise in Sri Lanka. With our entry the field
will become more competitive and enhance the professionalism,” de Silva
said. “However, our competition is not with the local firms.
Our entry into the local field will not be at their expense as we
compete with international players now engaged in major projects here.
The country is achieving economic stability and taxpayers, especially
those bringing in overseas funds should be given the opportunity to
expand,” he said.
“We are proud our achievements overseas and believe we should tap the
opportunities available here and bring our experience and expertise to
our country,” the CEO said.
Milcris values professionalism and continuously upgrades the
knowledge of its staff. De Silva said that the company recently launched
a program to train some of the newcomers to the organisation locally to
expand operations.
“We are now working on 40 projects and employ over 140 professionals.
New professionals are joining us while` some are leaving the company due
to various reasons.”
