Easier access to BOI website for investors

The Board of Investment (BOI) launched its new online application system through its website last week at the Investment Promotion Ministry under the patronage of Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane.

According to Minister Abeywardane, the newly launched application system enables investors who are keen to invest in Sri Lanka to easily access the system. Minister Abeywardane said an investor from the United Kingdom has already sent an application, expressing willingness to invest US$ 150 million in Sri Lanka.

The application forms have been divided into five segments for the convenience of investors and to make them more effective and user-friendly. The system also consists of site approval and a login system. Applications received online from investors will be studied by the BOI prior to granting final approval. Payments for the application can be made online using Visa or credit cards. The content of the BOI website has also seen certain changes such as the inclusion of detailed information on land available to investors into the BOI's current 12 export processing zones, the Minister said.
