Miracles through education - Minister Dullas Alahapperuma
There will be Miracles through changes in education. A dedicated
service in this regard is essential. One cannot witness miracles without
making an effort, said Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister
Dullas Alahapperuma.
He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a University
College at the Food Department premises in Madawatte, Matara.
The University College will conduct basic educational requirements
for a technical degree conducted by the University of Vocational
Technology in Ratmalana. Twenty five University Colleges will be
established nationwide and the opening ceremonies will take place in
2014. The construction work is being carried out by the State
Engineering Corporation.
"Innovative and forward thinking policy makers are needed for the
development of the country," said the minister.
He added that every developed country achieved success through
technical education.
Most citizens want to get into the traditional university system, but
with the introduction of the new technical stream for the Advanced level
curriculum, many issues of the youths will be solved, he said.
"The benefits of this new concept will not be witnessed today but
will be realised when these students graduate in 2020," he said.
He said the path to a miracle should be through education and in
today's world, the best resource is the human resource achieved through
education.
