Rs. 1.5 million allocated for fisheries huts

Senior Minister and Minister for Food Security P. Dayaratne has
allocated Rs. 15 lakhs for the construction of fisheries huts at
Karaithevu in the Ampara District and the foundation stone was laid
recently.
The function was presided over by the former Karaithevu Pradeshiya
Sabha Chairman, 'Sakthi' Fishing Society President and also the
Minister's Co ordinator for Fisheries Activities Nadarajah Jeevarajah.
The Minister was given a warm reception by the fishing community,
later the foundation stone was laid by the Minister with religious
prayers of Siva Sri Thiyagarajah who is the chief incumbent of the
Vishnu temple.
A meeting was followed in the sea beach with the welcome speech of
the Co ordinator of the Minister V.Krishnamoorthy.
The members of the fishing society thanked the minister and golden
shawl was worn on him to honour the minister.
Those who got our votes did not do anything for us. Whereas minister
P. Dayaratna has helped us by allocation of Rs. 15 lakhs for our
fishermen. Fisheries Society President Jeevarajah requested the Minister
to allocate funds to construct 20 more houses for the fishermen of
Karaithevu.
Minister P. Dayaratna said that he was able to allocate funds for the
construction for fishermen huts and he requested the people of
Karaithevu to strengthen the hands of your leaders like Moorthy and
Jeewarajah. |
