Donate books to libraries - Minister Duminda Dissanayake
by S.M. Wijayaratne - Kurunegala Cor.
Minister of Educational Services Duminda Dissanayake called upon all
Sri Lankans to donate books for libraries of government schools that are
situated in remote areas of the country. Many schools of remote areas
lack certain facilities and reading material for low-income students and
hence those who are capable of donating suitable study materials and
library books are kindly requested to assist these students by offering
library books.
It is a great meritorious deed, Minister Duminda Dissanayake said at
a media conference held in Kurunegala recently. He said that the month
of October is declared by the government as the month of national
reading and hence philanthropists can help remote and underprivileged
Govt. schools in the country to improve the library facilities which may
lead to create a generation of wise future citizens to mother Sri Lanka.
About 10,000 remote schools are thus to be equipped with library
facilities, he said. |
