TNA’s hidden agenda will be bared

Construction,
Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal
Weerawansa said the UPFA could win the Northern Provincial Council or
pose a serious political challenge to racist and separatist elements in
the North.
Minister Weerawansa said that this was the first time in recent
history that people in the North exercised their franchise freely after
three decades of terrorism.
Holding this election would help pave the path for a new political
ideology for the Tamil community in the North.
The election results will show a sense of national harmony among
people in the North as opposed to the TNA’s racist ideology, the
Minister told the Sunday Observer yesterday.
The Minister said the TNA is determined to grab power in the Northern
Provincial Council and show the international community that they have
won a mandate for self-rule in the North.
The TNA in its political manifesto had set out a series of proposals
which go beyond the limits of the Constitution. The TNA’s ultimate goal
is to present a resolution at the UNHRC to demerge the North and the
East. It is obvious that the TNA is a part of some international
campaign against the Government, he said.
The Minister said the TNA leaders are trying to drag the next
generation of Tamil youth to take up arms again.
That is why TNA Chief Ministerial candidate C.V. Vigneswaran had
warned that if more powers are not given to the North, they would have
to take up arms. However, Vigneswaran or Sampanthan’s sons will never
take up arms.
They are leading luxurious lives in foreign countries. We have never
heard that even a single child of these so-called TNA leaders had died
due to LTTE terror. |
