Sajith Umayanga shattered a 17-year-old meet record of the boys under -17 1500m event at the All Island Schools Games held at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo yesterday. The Pushpadana Vidyalaya, Ambathenna student clocked 4:06.85 minutes breaking the previous record of 4:09.2 minutes set by Asela Dahanayake of Dodamwala MV, Muruthalawa in 1996. Supun Randeniya, who broke Sri Lanka's ace 110m hurdler Mahesh Perera's meet record previous day, improved his time of 14.50 to win the gold with a new timing of 14.30 seconds.
