Committing to drive Sri Lanka's brain gain efforts through a collaborative partnership, WorkInSriLanka (workinsrilanka.lk), the volunteer-based brain gain initiative in Sri Lanka, signed an MoU, with SLASSCOM.

WorkInSriLanka, a comprehensive brain gain effort, provides information for highly skilled labour to relocate and work in Sri Lanka.

WorkInSriLanka advocates Sri Lanka as an attractive destination for highly skilled people. Users of the WorkInSriLanka website will: * Have a channel linking middle and top level professionals with the ICT industry and organisations that need specialised skills. * Obtain a comprehensive insight into working conditions and job related information in the ICT sector within Sri Lanka for those contemplating to return to their homeland, and * Obtain up-to-date information on job opportunities within the ICT industry.

This partnership will also see WorkInSriLanka and SLASSCOM work towards merging common goals and implementing brain gain initiatives.

Director, Co-Head, SLASSCOM, HR and Capacity Forum and Director and Country Manager, Motorola Solutions Lanka Ltd, Anuradha Tennakoon said, "There are thousands of Lankan professionals holding responsible positions overseas. They have access to cutting edge technologies and a vast network of contacts. We look forward to working with the WorkInSrilanka team to reach out to them and facilitate their contribution for the development of the country."

WorkInSrilanka experienced an overwhelming response from professionals of a wide array of disciplines and experience, looking for opportunities to relocate in Sri Lanka, owing to the fast growing economy that provides a comfortable living environment.

Chairperson, WorkInSriLanka, Kanchana Ambagahawita said, "The signing of an MoU with SLASSCOM goes beyond forming a strong partnership. The ICT sector is booming and needs to expand its human resources, skills and share knowledge to thrive in stiff global and especially regional competition.

Through this partnership we intend to better streamline the information to our website users, who wish to join the ICT industry and link them to the industry."

This tie up is the first of many partnership initiatives that WorkInSriLanka proposes to sign with various professional industries.
