Workshop for young poets

A one day workshop for young poets of Puttalam town was conducted by the youth organisation for rapid assistance in collaboration with Puttalam District Tamil Newspaper Reporters' Association at Puttalam Cultural Hall recently.Selected young poets were trained by well-known poet of Puttalam town, Al-Haj Jaward Maraikar, the retired Deputy Zonal Director of Education and other genius of Tamil poetry. Chairman of the Puttalam Urban Council K.A. Baiz, Tamil poet of Puttalam Jaward Maraikar, R.A. Pushparajan, Thinakaran Reporter M.I.A. Lathiff, S. Nagaraja, Principal of Hindu Tamil Central College of Puttalam town were also felicitated for their contribution for Tamil poetry.

Thirty families in the Thanambaveli, Koduwamadu and Kayankuda in the Chenkalady Secretariat division living below the poverty level were each gifted with barbed wire, mamooty, watering bucket, seeds and fruit saplings worth 12,500 by the Muslim Aid Organisation on Tuesday.

Inspirational service

An extraordinary service of 'Prayer, Praise and Teaching' will be held on Sunday, November 10 at 10.30 a.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7.

The Speaker and Minister will be Dr. Vijaya Corea.

A special feature at this service will be the provision of the opportunity for anointed prayer individually for those in need. Testimonies of answered prayer would also be heard.
