SLIBC to boost trade with Indonesia

The Sri Lanka-Indonesia Business Council (SLIBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce met Designate Ambassador to Indonesia Ms. Anoja Wijesekara recently at the Ceylon Chamber premises.

External Affairs Ministry, Assistant Director, Economic Affairs, Gihan Indraguptha was also present. Ms. Anoja Wijesekara has worked with the UNICEF and spent four years in Afghanistan.

Ms. Wijesekara holds a Master of Science in Development Economics from the University of London.

The meeting enabled the Executive Committee to articulate on their outlook of industries such as textiles, flour, tyres and paper and discuss a number of concerns distressing businesses from an operational standpoint.

Ms. Wijesekara said that there was scope for improvement of trade relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia and that she would further encourage Foreign Direct Investments to Sri Lanka on assuming her post in Jakarta.

Indraguptha outlined the progress of the Joint Commission with Indonesia which is yet to be finalised.
