We have many peraheras in our country. The Kandy perahera is the most famous. Even the mini peraheras are a joy to witness. This month, Colombo witnesses a huge perahera on the same lines as the Kandy perahera. The pomp and pegeantry of the Gangarama perahera is hard to reckon with.

The retinue of Kandyan dancers, the various drummers, and the stilt walkers used in the perahera are a sight to behold. Thousand caparisoned elephants parade the streets.
