Shanties gutted by fire in Wellampitiya

Twenty five shanties in Nagahamullawatta in Wellampitiya were completely destroyed by a fire which broke out yesterday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 3.40 pm and the Colombo Fire Brigade responded with seven vehicles including fire engines and bowsers. The fire was brought under control shortly thereafter.

No casualties were reported and the damage is yet to be ascertained.

Wellampitiya Police are investigating.
