More Ayurveda centres for NWP

The Provincial Department of Local Government of the North Western Province (NWP) has decided to set up more Ayurvedic medical centres as the existing number is insufficient.

"The traditional Ayurvedic treatment system that has become an integral part of Sri Lankans should be protected.

"Our native treatment is not second to any Western method of treatment," said the Provincial Commissioner of Local Government, W.M.M.B. Weerasekara.

At present, there are 15 dispensaries in the Province. A sum of Rs. 1,744,373 has been paid to the Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Corporation for the supply of medicine for 13 Pradeshiya Sabhas during the past six months of 2013.
