Special ID cards for gypsies

The Government will issue special identity cards to members of the gypsy community as per the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Accordingly, the community will be able to safeguard their conventional traditions and cultural heritage. Wildlife and Forest Resources Minister Vijith Wijithamuni Soysa told the Sunday Observer that with the issue of the special ID cards, they will be able to procure animals necessary for their traditional vocation without any objections from any quarter.
