Drug suspect hacked to death

A 33-year-old man who was released on bail for a drug offence had been found killed with his throat slit with a sharp object near the Gothatuwa bund on the IDH road last morning.

Wellampitiya Police found the body of the victim identified as Mohamed Nishabdeen Mohamed Risvan on a tip off. He was a resident of Colombo 13, the police said.

The suspect who was in the remanded custody for a heroin related offence had been released on bail recently.

The motive behind the killing has not been ascertained yet. Wellampitiya Police are investigating.
