NCC's Jehan Mubarak hits a blazing double hundred

Jehan Mubarak, who was unbeaten on 169 overnight, hit an unbeaten double century (222) as NCC declared their mammoth first innings at 513-5 against Badureliya SC. At the end of second day's play, Badureliya were 95 for seven in their second innings after they were bowled out for 174 in the first innings in a Group 'A' Premier League match played at Surrey Village, Maggona.

With Mubarak's career best First Class innings, the left hander topped the leading run scorers' list with his 408 runs in four matches with an average of 81.10 including two centuries. Mubarak, who put on a record 272-run stand for the third wicket with Pavan Wickramasinghe (122) on day one, added another 107-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Farveez Maharoof (50) yesterday. He faced 299 balls hitting 32 fours.

In reply, Badureliya were collapsed to 174 in their first innings as Sohan Boralessa and Kosala Kulasekara shared five wickets. After they were forced onto follow on, NCC spinner Boralessa and Tharindu Kaushal wrecked the batting order taking six wickets among them.
