Two football titles for Gateway

Gateway College has risen in soccer in the recent past by emerging as Champions of the Under 15 age group and the Runner-up in the Under 13 age group at the Inter International Schools Competition.

The tournament that was organized by the Royal Institute saw much interest among the boys of all leading International Schools in Sri Lanka.

At the Under 15 final, Gateway beat Lyceum Ratnapura by 2-0. MuhammedMeera and RovinSenadheera scored for Gateway. At the semi final, Gateway beat Colombo International School, Colombo on a penalty shootout. In the preliminary stage, Gateway overcame Lyceum International School, Nugegoda 2-0 and Belvoir College 2-0.

MuhammedMeera scored 3 goals while Ryan Smahon got one goal in the preliminary stage.

Gateway's captain, MuhammedMeera was named the Player of the Tournament, while Gateway's ShanilDutta was named the Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

In the Under 13 category, CIS Kandy overcame Gateway by 1-0 at the final. Gateway beat CIS Colombo 1-0 at the semis and Royal Institute 1-0 at the preliminary stage. Gateway Colombo and Kandy drew nil all. The scorers for Gateway were Jehan Malik and Isa Fahim.
