Chinese biz delegation here this week
A 20-member business delegation from China will arrive in Sri Lanka
June 19 to explore trade opportunities in the country.
The delegation is organised by the Beijing Lansing Century Exhibition
Company Ltd with the Promotion of International Trade Hangzhou
Sub-Council, Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic
Cooperation, Liaoning Provincial Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic
Cooperation and the China Council for the Promotion of International
Trade, Shaoxing Committee.
The delegation's visit to the country also coincides with
Construction Expo 2014 in Colombo. The delegation hopes to meet partners
in Sri Lanka to expand their businesses in the country.
The visiting businessmen represent product lines such as,
agricultural machinery parts, angle valve, aromatherapy equipment and
machines, ball mill, block making machine, braided hose, concrete
batching plant, crusher, energy saving lamps, faucet handles and
fittings.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will hold a business forum with the
visiting delegates on June 19, while it would be followed by B2B
meetings with potential local partners.
With the contacts that could be made during B2B sessions, local
businesses could reap the full potential of the proposed FTA to be
signed between Sri Lanka and China this year.
Sri Lanka has maintained cordial relations with China which supports
Sri Lanka in its development drive. Trade and investment between the two
countries has grown backed by trade and investment agreements.
The China-Sri Lanka Investment and Tourism Promotion agreements were
signed in 2007. Chinese tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka has increased in
recent years. China is the largest trading partner of Sri Lanka within
the Asian region. |
