SLMC dispels speculation
by P. Krishnaswamy
Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) delegates will meet in Colombo today
to elect the 350 member Executive Committee of the party and the
38-member High Command and no issues whatsoever on the party alliance
with the Government will be taken up for discussion, SLMC General
Secretary M.T. Hasan Ali MP told the Sunday Observer.
He was responding to widespread speculation that the UPFA constituent
party will quit the alliance over a range of issues.
He said that in keeping with party traditions, the party High Command
and the Executive Committee will take up any contentious issues for
discussion on later dates, and if they decide, such issues with the
Government will be sorted out through negotiations.
