Boost for Divi Neguma projects

The Economic Development Ministry has allocated Rs. 14,000 million for 14,000 projects islandwide for the Divi Neguma department.

The Divi Neguma department will conduct the program covering 14,000 Grama Niladhari Divisions in 332 Divisional Secretariats. In the past, many projects were conducted under the Maga Neguma, Gama Neguma and Divi Neguma. By amalgamating these various projects, including irrigation projects, construction of minor roads, introducing children's and women's clinics, construction of community centres and sports assistances.

The highlight of this program is that all projects will be designed and proposed by people in rural areas and the divisional political leadership.

The proposals will be finalised this month and the projects will be launched next month.

All projects should be completed on or before December 31, 2014.

The monitoring of work will be strictly under the Divisional Secretaries.The Divi Neguma Department (Life Enpowerment Department) will allocate Rs. 1 million for each project.
