Irrigation charter for NWP

“We have introduced an environment-friendly charter of irrigation for the North Western Province, said the NWP, Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera at the Provincial Council monthly meeting held in Kurunegala recently. Chairman Dharmasiri Dassanayake presided.

Despite criticism by the opposition members it was approved with a majority of 29 votes. The members of the UNP and several opposition parties refrained from voting. The only JVP Councillor too voted against.

Chief Minister Jayasekera thanked the Provincial Minister of Agriculture Sanath Nishantha for introducing the charter.
