Driving licences to be renewed

The Commissioner General of Motor Traffic has called upon all motorists to renew their driving licences before the end of September this year.

It will be carried out in all District offices of the Motor Traffic Department countrywide.

The objective of the program is to test the fitness of drivers for driving vehicles and thereafter all heavy vehicle drivers will have to renew their driving licences every four years.

All light vehicle drivers will have to renew their driving licences every eight years, according to the latest regulations by the Motor Traffic Department, an Assistant Commissioner of Motor Traffic in Kurunegala J.M.D. Herath said.
