Electric fences renovated

The Wild Life Conservation Department has taken steps to repair the electric fences in the sanctuaries in border areas of Matale district, to drive away the wild elephants.

The electric fences erected at Sigiriya, Wasgamuwa and Kahalla-Pallekele sanctuaries are in a dilapidated condition permitting elephants to invade the villages. Therefore, all electric fences, erected around the sanctuaries, will be repaired. The public on its part should extend their support to maintain these fences as it cost millions of rupees to put up fences.
