Islandwide essay competition on 'Renewable Energy'

Sivanathan Laboratories Inc., USA with the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan scientists working in the field of solar cells will hold an islandwide essay competition on Renewable energy towards a better future open to all school students in the age group of 16-19.

The competition is for Sinhala, Tamil and English medium students studying in public and private schools in Sri Lanka. A well-structured essay (not more than 3,000 words) elaborating on the current energy issues and possible solutions for sustainable development of the country should be submitted on or before July 1.

The best three essays in each medium: Sinhala (3), Tamil (3) and English (3) will be selected for the awards. Each of the nine winners will receive a cash prize and a certificate at a ceremony to be held at the National Science Foundation in August 2014.More details can be obtained from websites: http://www.nsf.ac.lk or http:/www.ifs.ac.lk
