Tsunami lecture on June 19
The LIRNEasia has organised the fourth annual Disaster Risk Reduction
lecture and discussion on 'Ten years of post-tsunami recovery: The role
of ICTs in building disaster resilience' will be held at the Sri Lanka
Foundation Institute, Colombo 7 on Thursday, June 19 from 3.30 p.m. to
6.00 p.m.
The lecture will be delivered by the Director of the Pacific Tsunami
Warning Centre in Hawaii, Dr. Stuart Weinstein and the discussion panel
will comprise the Director, Global ICT Strategy of the Ministry of
Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, Koichi Katagiri, Group CEO
of Dialog Axiata and Chief Executive of Axiata Digital Services, Dr.
Hans Wijayasuriya and the General Secretary of the Sarvodaya Movement,
Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne.
Seminar on 'Printed Electronics'
The Sri Lanka Institute of Printing has organised a seminar on
'Printed Electronics' at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla on June 21 from 9
a.m. to 1 p.m.
Printed Electronics is a set of printing methods used to create
electrical devices on various substrates, which may enable new markets
for larger area, flexible or low cost disposable devices.
The seminar will be conducted by Sujeewa Randeniya, a Print Engineer
in Research and Development in Nth Technologies (World Wide) Inc in USA,
a Sri Lanka born Science Graduate from the University of Colombo who
holds a Masters degree in Printing from the Arizona State University, is
currently on a study tour in Sri Lanka.

Felicitation ceremony on June 18
Music artiste Kalaikamal Jamaldeen Mahdoom has organised a ceremony
to felicitate former Speaker and Senior Minister, M.H. Mohamed, senior
journalists M.K. Mubarak Ali, F.M. Fairoos, Director, SLBC Muslim
Service, Hafix S.M. Haniffa and ex-Director, SLBC, M.Z. Ahamed Munawwar
at the Islamic Centre auditorium, Maligawatte, Colombo on Wednesday,
June 18 at 7.00 p.m.
Minister of Industries and Commerce, Rishad Bathiyutheen will be the
chief guest.
Krishnamurti talk
A recorded public talk on 'What is right action, with regard to
violence' delivered by the late Indian sage Jiddu Krishnamurti will be
replayed at the Anula Nursery School Hall, High Level Road, Colombo 6
today at 9.45 a.m.
It is organised by the Krishnamurti Centre, Sri Lanka Inc.

The fourth death anniversary of L.E.R. (Roy) De Silva, a former Joint
Sports Editor of the Daily News and a senior Sub Editor of the Sunday
Observer falls on June 18.
Hanthanata Payana Sanda next Sunday
Veteran musician Amarasiri Peiris' solo concert Hanthanata Payana
Sanda, a classical musical event will be held on Sunday, June 22 from
6.30 pm at Musaeus College auditorium, Colombo 7.
The organisers are pleased to announce that the tickets that were
dated for May 18th are valid for the June 22nd.
Wasantha Rohana will be the compere and Rohana Weerasinghe will lead
the back-up orchestra.
The event is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Negombo, for their
upcoming projects in 2014/2015.
