The web portal is open to undergraduates, postgraduate and doctoral
level studies with mentorship from industry experts. It also serves as a
forum for internship cooperation, discussions around technology and adds
value as a job portal.
‘CampusDirectLink’ has been designed on behalf of SLASSCOM by one of
its member companies IFS R and D International.
The portal has been designed based on state-of-art social computing
concepts.
Vice chairman, SLASSCOM, Jayantha de Silva said that exports from IT
and the knowledge service industry reached an estimated $720 million in
2013.
“The industry is on its way to meet its $ 1 billion aspiration by
2016. We have an ambitious target and SLASSCOM's policy framework is to
reach $ 5 billion in export revenue by 2022 for which it is seeking the
active cooperation of all stakeholders including academia,” he said.“The
skills needed by today's tech workforce is constantly changing and if we
are to make our workforce future proof, they need to acquire additional
skills including, but not limited to product design skills, ability to
mesh software with hardware to exploit the internet of things and user
experience design skills,” Silva said.
