Ginganga, Nilwalaganga water to be diverted

The government will launch a project to divert the Ginganga and Nilwalaganga to Hambantota to ease the water problem.

The project envisages to construct a bund across Ginganga at Pitadeniya in Neluwa and channel water to Hambantota via Nilwalaganga.The multi-purpose project provides for generation of electricity too.

The development of Walawe left bank is also in the blueprint.

The cost of this project will be around Rs. 73 billion.
