Cabinet approval to confirm casual workers

Cabinet approval has been received for confirming 12,000 casual and temporary employees who are presently employed countrywide in the ministries, departments and other state institutions.

The Cabinet memorandum for this had been put forward by the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs recently.

The Ministry has directed the Cabinet paper to the Treasury for approval by now, said A. Jayasena, President, Kurunegala District Government Employees' Welfare Association speaking at a meeting of members held recently at Bingiriya MMV in Kurunegala.
