Hike in pre-school teachers' allowances

The NWP-PC has decided to increase the allowances paid to 4000 pre-school teachers in both Kurunegala and Puttalam districts of the NWP at present.Presently, they are paid Rs. 1,000 monthly and it was found to be totally inadequate when compared to their dedicated services.Accordingly, the PC Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara has decided to introduce a special welfare fund and a program for all 4000 pre-school teachers in the NWP to ensure them with a bright future.

The Chief Minister has also promised them with a pension scheme too in the future to admire their contribution towards moulding future generation, A.M. Jayaweera, a Senior Zonal Director of Education in the NWP told Sunday Observer.
