Provincial Botanical Gardens

The Ministry of Botanical Gardens and Public Recreation will set up Botanical Gardens at provincial level throughout the country.

Minister of Botanical Gardens and Public Recreation Jayaratne Herath who is also a Kurunegala District Parliamentarian said that the Botanical Garden for the North Western Province would be set up at Bingiriya in the Kurunegala district.

It will be located on a land belonging to the Forest Department, close to the Bingiriya Agri-Export zone. Rs. 600 million would be invested on the project and rare herbs and plants of bio diversity would be cultivated here, he said.
