Selectors meet to finalise winners
The selections of the outstanding award winners of the
Observer-Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2014 was held at the Galadari
Hotel last week under the patronage of the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket
Association (SLSCA), Sri Lanka Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association
and cricket umpires associations of the Southern Province and Central
Province.
Former Sri Lanka captain and national selector Hashan Tillakaratne
and the President of the SLSCA and principal of Ananda College Kithsiri
Liyanagama were the co-chairmen of the special selection panel who
picked the winners. This will be the 36th successive year that the
Sunday Observer is organising Sri Lanka’s premier schools cricket awards
show.
Sri Lanka’s national mobile service provider - SLT Mobitel is the
proud sponsor of the Mega Show which rewards Sri Lanka’s budding
schoolboy cricketers.
The winners were picked strictly on merit, based on their performance
during the 2013/14 inter-school cricket season. Batsman.Com, the popular
cricket news website headed by Kumara Gamhewa, provided logistical
support in the selections with statistical data. |
