University College for Wayamba youth

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development has decided to construct a University College at the Kuliyapitiya to offer vocational training diploma courses for G.C.E. (A/L) level qualified job seekers.

The young unemployed girls and boys who would pass out from this University College can get lucrative job opportunities locally and internationally in government and private sector institutions. Unemployed youth from Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts can follow vocational training courses here to become qualified professionals. They can enter the University of Technology to obtain degrees after following diploma courses at this University College.

About 3,000 youths can follow vocational training diploma courses at this university college when it commences its study courses within next two years, said the NWP-PC Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, at a conference of members of Youth Clubs of the Kurunegala District held recently at the Panduwasnuwara Community Centre.
