BoC 18 Plus scholarship scheme marks 10th anniversary

The Bank of Ceylon (BoC) held its 10th BoC 18 Plus Scholarship Awards ceremony recently for undergraduates studying in State universities. Scholarships worth Rs. 30,000 each were awarded to 75 students and special merit scholarships worth Rs. 35,000 were awarded to 20 more students who showed exemplary performance scoring the highest marks.

The special merit scholarships were awarded to five from each of the four streams - Science, Mathematics, Commerce and Arts.

To be eligible for this scholarship scheme 18 Plus account holders have to maintain a minimum balance of Rs. 5,000 for a full calendar year from January 1 to December 31 during the year of sitting for the Advanced Level examination.

Senior Professor, Department of Human Resource Management, University of Sri Jayawardhanapura, Prof. H.H.D.N.P. Opatha was the guest speaker.

"The Bank of Ceylon, assists in fulfilling the needs of the youth because they are the future of the country and it is our responsibility to encourage them to achieve leadership positions," said Chairman, Bank of Ceylon, Ronald C. Perera.
