'Mobile, digital marketing the need of the hour'

Digital and mobile marketing are increasingly replacing more traditional marketing methods, CEO and Principal Advisor of Adventus Education, Chris Price told the second Talking Point hosted by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) recently in Colombo. Online marketing needs to go the extra mile in the future, being entertaining and informative, Price said. Wearable technology is growing in prominence, with innovations such as Google Glass and the Apple Smart watch drawing interest and engagement from consumers, he said.

Talking Point was sponsored by Stafford Motors (Pvt) Ltd and Sampath Bank PLC, with Sarva Integrated (Pvt) Ltd, the creative partner and Strategic Alliance the PR partner.

Currently, with more than two billion mobile users, marketing through Smartphone mobile applications are a vital touch-point which needs to be focused on.

As such, modern organisations should ensure their websites are mobile-responsive as this is the need of the hour, said Price in a wide-ranging and informative speech.

Talking Point was held on the theme 'The future of Digital Marketing'. Over 170 people, including renowned marketing professionals, top businessmen, CIM members and senior corporate executives were present.

The online marketing sphere should encompass a variety of platforms, such as YouTube, which is the second largest search engine in the world, he said.
