It was Royalists' second back to back win after they thrashed St
Anthony's College, Katugastota by 38-10 last week.
It was Science who opened scoring through a try by N Niranjan in the
seventh minute, which was converted by himself.
Then Royal took control of the game scoring four tries on the trot.
Their first try came from Akash Iddawela in the 19th minute.
Six minutes later, they took the lead, off a rolling maul as Supun
Warnakulasuriya, scored near the right corner. Once again Ayendra
Subasinghe missed the conversion. (10-7).
The Reid Avenue school scored two more tries through hooker Supun
Warnakulasuriya. Ayendra Subasinghe missed both conversions to give
Royal a 20-7 lead at the 'breather.
Ten minutes after resumption, fly half Ayendra Subasinghe dropped a
goal to make it 23-7.
Ayeshmantha scored a superb try for Science College in the 13th
minute to reduce the deficit to 23-12. N Niranjan missed the conversion.
Science reduced the deficit further when Niranjan put over a 15-metre
penalty. (23-15).
In the 20th minute, Royal centre Akash Iddawela made an interception
and scored under the posts to give Subasinghe an easy kick at goal to
make it 30-15.
Supun Warnakulasuriya, who had a grand game, scored his fourth try in
the 30th minute which was converted by Ayendra Subasinghe to make it
37-15.
In the dying stages of the game, Science College's M Madushanka
scored a splendid try which was converted by Niranjan to make it 37-22
at the final whistle.
Although Royal forwards gave a fine display, their three-quarters
failed to impress by dropping passes at crucial moments. They also
lacked the services of a reliable place kicker as they converted only
two out of six tries.
