RADA chief remanded

The Chief Operating Officer of the Reconstruction and Development
Agency (RADA), Saliya Wickramasuriya was remanded yesterday until May 12
by the Fort Magistrate for alleged financial fraud, Police spokesman
Ruwan Gunasekara said.
He was taken in yesterday morning by the Police Special Investigation
Unit, he said. Wickramasuriya who was arrested at his residence in
Charles Place, Kollupitiya, was the chief suspect of a Rs.169 million
financial fraud of a tsunami housing project in the North and the East
Provinces.
RADA was a state run reconstruction agency which was operating under
the now defunct Ministry of Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure. |
