TNA demands: Laws to end poaching by Indian fishermen

TNA Parliamentarian M. A. Sumanthiran on Friday urged the government to bring necessary laws to prevent Indian fishermen from poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters.

Speaking during an adjournment debate on the problems faced by Sri Lankan fishermen due to Indian fishermen exploiting fishing resources in Lankan waters, Sumanthiran alleged maritime resources were being destroyed due to bottom- trawling and other illegal fishing methods used by the Indians.
