The allure of the Palli Vettai

The 13th annual ‘Vizha’ of Aluthmawatha All Ceylon Ananda Aiyappan Thevasthanam took place recently. The special event of Palli Vettai, which re-enacts the story of Lord Aiyappan’s foray into the forest to hunt down a wild boar and his joyful return, was the cynosure of the Vizha. Photographs show the Palli Vettai in progress and Swami Aiyappan stepping out of the jungle to right the wrongs and ensure peace and prosperity for the masses. Sivalingam Anantheeswarar acted the part of Swami Aiyappan.
