Crime scene photo show

The College of Forensic Pathologists of Sri Lanka will host a photography exhibition on March 4 and 5, 2016 from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 pm at the 'Mihilaka Medura' at BMICH to coincide with their 15th anniversary. The exhibition will include photographs of cases taken during crime scene investigations and is sure to interest the public who may get an idea of how a forensic medicine specialist goes about assisting in solving crimes.

Parallel to the exhibition the inauguration of the annual sessions of the college will be held on March 4 evening. The 3rd HVJ Fernando memorial oration on theme Medical detectives take the lead will be delivered by Dr. Jean Perera, Head of Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. The chief guest for this occasion would be Vidyajothi Emeritus Prof. Lalitha Mendis, Former competent authority of the University of Colombo and former Dean Faculty of Medicine, Colombo.

On March 5 the Academic sessions will take place to discuss a topical subject on 'Preparedness for mass disasters: Management of the dead'. A document titled "Guidelines on the Management of the dead in disasters and catastrophes" will also be launched by the college.
