Another tame draw at Isipathana-Thurstan

The 53rd edition of the Isipathana-Thurstan Big Match cricket
encounter ended in a tame draw at the SSC ground, Colombo yesterday.
In reply to Thurstan College's 291-8 declared, Isipathana College
made 222-8 at close.

The second day's highlights were Kasun Abeyratne's best knock for
Thurstan College and Isipathana batsman Sanjula Abeywickrema's half
century.
Resuming from the overnight score of 252-3, century maker Kasun
Abeyratne scored the highest big match innings for Thurstan College when
he made 147 surpassing the previous best knock of 146 not out by Kamal
Mahendra in the 1990 encounter.
Abeyratne hit 17 boundaries with three fruitful partnerships for the
Thurstanites.
After Thurstan declared their first innings at 291-8, their bowlers
had three quick wickets for 15 runs.
Opening bowlers Nipun Lakshan and Isitha Wijesundera attacked the top
order batsmen sharing two wickets each.
Left arm leg spinner Dilan Madusanka was the pick for Thurstan
College with a three-wicket haul.
The 36th one-day encounter will be played on March 13 (Sunday) at the
P Sara Oval.
