Jerome Jayaratne has replaced Jerry Woutersz as manager of the Sri Lanka cricket team.

Woutersz, Sri Lanka Cricket said, was mild in his functions and not up to their expectations in handling and managing players with Jayaratne seen as having better credentials to tackle pressing issues and demanding situations.

Sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekera last month accused members of the Sri Lanka team of violating disciplinary requirements during a disastrous tour of New Zealand.

The charges were not proved.
