Avery Dennison scholarship program
Avery Dennison Lanka (Pvt) Ltd with the Avery Dennison Foundation has
initiated a two-year scholarship program to help schoolchildren of low
income families. Vihara Mahadevi Vidyalaya, a well-known girl's school
in Kiribathgoda was selected as the first beneficiary school.
The principal and the teachers identified ten students who have great
potential in their higher education.
The scholarship will support 10 students from low income households,
by paying for their education for two years. This will enable them to
continue their education until they sit for the GCE (A/L) examination.
Each student will receive Rs. 5,000 per month for a period of two
years until she completes her final year in school from the grant of US
$ 10,000.
The objectives of the program is to ensure a higher university
entrance percentage out of the grant recipients, to ensure improved
quality of education and life for the students and to motivate the
students to continue their education without any difficulty.
