Allegedly funding MR’s polls campaign:
The Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID)
will file legal action against the China Harbour Engineering Company
(CHEC) for allegedly funding the election campaign of former
President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in January, last year. An authoritative
police source said the FCID would file a B report in court in this
regard within the next three weeks.
The police will deploy 5000 officers in Colombo
for special duty today to provide security to May Day rallies and
control traffic in the city. Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan
Gunasekara said while 3100 Police personnel will be deployed to
provide security,
The Sri Lanka Air Force has asked the Ministry
of Defence to initiate action against Air Vice Marshal K.V.B.
Jayampathy, former Director of Air Operations of the SLAF. Highly
placed defence sources said the SLAF had asked for action against
the officer for allegedly violating the Air Force disciplinary code,
government regulations,
