SLAF wants MoD action against former Dir. Air Ops.
The Sri Lanka Air Force has asked the Ministry of Defence to initiate
action against Air Vice Marshal K.V.B. Jayampathy, former Director of
Air Operations of the SLAF.
Highly placed defence sources said the SLAF had asked for action
against the officer for allegedly violating the Air Force disciplinary
code, government regulations, procurement procedures and service
standards.
Air Vice Marshal Jayampathy, one of the most senior officers in the
service, was a front-runner for the Air Force Commander’s position, last
year. However, after Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala was appointed Air
Force Commander, Jayampathy was appointed Director - Air Operations of
the SLAF.
A few months later, however, Jayampathy was suddenly removed from his
position as Director.
In a counter-move against the SLAF, Jayampathy has written to the Sri
Lanka Human Rights Commission against the move to remove him from his
position as Director Air Operations. |
