YMWL fund-raiser
The Young Muslim Womens' League (YMWL) is a social service
organisation whose prime objective is to help the less fortunate. This
year the YMWL has taken the initiative to present an event comprising
many entertaining elements titled 'South East Asian Splendour' on May 4,
at 'The Excellency', Charlemont Road, Colombo 6 from.10 am to 3 pm. It
is the annual fund-raiser of the YMWL, and the proceeds will be used to
fund on-going projects.
'South East Asian Splendour' will host a cultural and musical
extravaganza drawn from diverse cultures of the South East Asian region
followed by a sumptious lunch, bringing the rich flavours of the South
Asian region.A comedy skit together with many surprises are on the
cards. The event will also host a number of stalls selling a variety of

Avurudu celebration in Brisbane

The Sinhala and Hindu New Year was celebrated at the Spring field
Lakes in Brisbane with a large gathering of Sri Lankans on April 2.
The special guest was the Mayor of the city of Ipswich, Paul Pisasale.

Bayan program

The special Bayan program of Dharul Uloom Mosque, Egodawatha,
Beruwala was held recently. Here Moulavi M. Haja Mohideen (Bakavi)

Maha Yagna pooja

The Sri Kamatchchi Amman Kovil, Obeysekarapura, Rajagiriya conducted
a Maha Yagna pooja during the New Year, under the auspices of the chief
priest, Ravindran Sasthri Kurukkal, to invoke blessings on President
Maithripala Sirisena, country and the people.
